Tennis strings come in many differant varieties of materials and construction. Some are made for different court surfaces, and playing charicteristics. Most range from 15-18 gauge (1.40-1.15mm). Generally you should change your strings as many times in a season as you play in a week. Experimenting with different strings to find what works good for your racquet and style of play, or the type of court surface you play on can be challenging and frustrating.
